Whilst there is no separate mountain bike category, there is a separate award for the fastest male and female finishers on a mountain bike. Anyone who believes that he/she may qualify for this award must present their mountain bike for inspection immediately after finishing to the finish judges located after the finish chutes. The organisers can then confirm that the bike has the following specifications: The frame must be a dedicated mountain bike frame, with or without suspension, with cantilever brakes or disc brakes. It must have the ability to accept 26" knobbly tyres that have a cross-section of 2,2" (56mm). It must be fitted with straight type handlebars. Brahma type bars and bar-ends are permissible but road-racing handlebars are not. Slick tyres on rims 26" in diameter are permissible, but the cross-section is to have a minimum width of 1 ¼ " (32mm). A triple chaining crank set is to be fitted. Mountain bikes qualify for seeding in the same way as other conventional bicycles. |

These are Elite and U23, Junior, Juvenile (U16), and Veterans categories for both ladies and men. Restricted gears apply for Juniors and Juveniles. No one will be permitted to compete in these categories without a valid and current Cycling SA license. The size of all these groups will be limited to the top qualifiers based on results in the qualifying events. Licenses must be available for view at registration and on race day. No day licenses will be issued at registration. Race organisers are not responsible for the collection and return of licenses. All licensed riders are to abide by Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge and UCI rules and regulations. The first open groups A, B and C are MALE ONLY. Any women found starting in these groups WILL BE DISQUALIFIED |

Seeding events are selected to provide an opportunity for cyclists from all over South Africa to get a seeding. Cyclists will be seeded according to specific criteria set out at the discretion of the organisers. All seeding is done only according to results achieved on the qualifying races. Seeding is the process that puts cyclists of similar ability into the same starting group. It is done to ensure a safe event and to place cyclists with others against whom they can compete enjoyably. Cyclists who believe they have been incorrectly seeded may apply for re-seeding. Re-seeding may be done at the sole discretion of the organizers who will require proof of ability in the form of results. A re-seeding fee is payable if results used are not from the qualifying events. A cyclist may not start in a group with a better seeding, but may move down to a slower group without being penalised. Cyclists starting ahead of their official start group will be disqualified. |
8. |
Participants must complete the course entirely under their own power and slipstreaming any vehicle or motorbike is prohibited. |

The organisers reserve the right to alter the routes in accordance with safety, traffic, construction or other constraints. No protest relating to deviation will be entertained. |
