CYCLE CHALLENGE
1. What is the actual distance of the Race?
The route is 97.4km.2. How much is the entrance fee?

Entries open online on the Monday, 7 March 2011.4. How old do I have to be to enter the race?
The minimum age is 12 years old. Any child under the age of 12 is required to submit a letter of consent from the parent/guardian to the Race Office upon entry.5. Where does the race take place, start and finish?
The Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge starts at 05:30 on the R55 before Maxwell Drive in Sunninghill, and finishes at the Waterfall Country Estate, 6 hours from the last start group.
6. Can I ride on someone else’s race number? This is not permitted under any circumstances. All of your personal details are linked to your race number on the system – in case of emergency, this information is critical. Please contact the Race Office on order to arrange a substitution should you wish to use someone else’s number.7. What if I have entered, but cannot take part?
You may contact the Race Office to organise a substitution. No refunds will be issued unless a due to medical reasons, and a doctor’s note must be produced upon the refund request.8. Where and when is Race Number collection?
Race Number collection, together with the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge EXPO will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre on:

Friday, 18 November 2010 10h00 – 18h00
Saturday, 19 November 2010 08h00 – 15h00
Please be sure to bring your Race Number printout, which you will receive closer to the time via email.9. If I can’t collect my Race Pack on one of those days, what should I do?
Someone can collect on your behalf. Riders in possession of a CSA licence will be required to provide a photocopy of their licence to the person collecting on their behalf.10. Do I need a Cycling South Africa (CSA) license to enter the race?
Yes, you need a license to race. If you are an unlicensed rider then you will have to purchase a one day CSA event licence.11. I am a resident outside of South Africa. Can I enter and how do I go about entering?
Yes, you can enter the Cycle Challenge. You can either enter online at or by faxing your valid entry form and proof of payment to 086 684 0158.12. I would like to ride together with family members and friends. How do I do this?
All cyclists wanting to ride in a group still need to enter as individuals. In order to ride together, the entire group will need to drop down to start with the rider who has the lowest seeded start group and time. Your new group start time will be picked up from the start mats and be automatically adjusted. You MAY NOT start in an earlier/ higher group.13. What kind of bike may I ride?
Road bikes and Mountain bikes may be used.14. How can I ride in a seeded group?
To start with a seeded group you will need to have participated in at least one of the Seeding Events listed. (See Seeding Events)15. How will I be timed?
The only way to get your time is by wearing a Racetec/Winning Time Chip. No other timing device is accepted. No chip, no result.16. What if I decide during the race that I cannot continue?
There is a sweep vehicle that follows the route. Move off the course and wait for the sweep vehicle. (See Cut-off Times and Sweep Locations)17. Where can I find photographs taken of me during the Cycle Challenge?
You can go onto the Action Photo website and purchase your photographs there, if you have not pre-ordered them online with your entry form. www.actionphoto.co.za.18. How long do I have to finish the Cycle Challenge?
The cut-off time is 6-hours19. How many water points are there on the route?
There are ten Momentum Water Points on route and one at the Finish:

The entire route of the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge is closed to traffic. In the interests of safety no vehicles will be permitted on the route.21. If I get into an accident and have to go to hospital in an ambulance, what happens to my bicycle?
Your bicycle will be put on a sweep vehicle and taken to a designated area near the Finish. It is critical that you have your race number sticker on your bicycle, so that the bicycle can be identified.22. After how many Cycle Challenges do I have to ride to get a special (yellow) race number?
Once you have completed 10 Cycle Challenges, you will receive a yellow race number.23. What do I do if my past results are not showing?

Yes, there are a number of designated parking areas available. (See Parking Map in the ‘Downloads’ section)26. Does Cycle Challenge offer a shuttle service?
Yes, there is a shuttle service. It will transport supporters from the parking area to the Venue, at no extra charge.27. Is there an area that I can store my bicycle after the Cycle Challenge?
Yes, there is a bicycle park – please bring a lock and chain to ensure the safety of your bike.

MOUNTAIN BIKE CHALLENGE
28. Can I ride the Mountain Bike Challenge and also do the Cycle Challenge the next day?
Yes, you can. And for your effort, you will be rewarded with a Double Club wristband.29. What are the different distances and the entry fee? And do I need a license?
There is the 10km (no license required) – R95 incl. VAT
25km (CSA or day license required) - R 125 incl. VAT and CSA Levy
50km (CSA or day license required) – R 155 incl. VAT and CSA Levy30. When and where is the Mountain Bike Challenge?
It is on the 13th November 2011, on a Sunday. The venue is at the Waterfall Country Estate.31. Where do I collect my Race Number?
There will be an Expo and collection of numbers at the Waterfall Country Estate.32. When do the entries for the Mountain Bike Challenge open?
Online entries open on Monday, 7 March 2011. And the entries close on the Monday, 3 October 2011.33. How will I be timed?
The race is timed manually.34. Are there medals available for the finishers?
All finishers will receive a medal.

35. When is the Children’s Cycle Challenge?
It is on the 12th November 2011, on a Saturday. The venue is at the Waterfall Country Estate.36. When do entries open and how can I enter?
Online entries open on Monday, 7 March 2011. And the entries close on the Monday, 3 October 2011.37. What are the different categories and distances?
All routes are along the roads within Waterfall Country Estate.
800m – 2-6yr olds, limited to 1000 entries
2km – 7-8yr olds, limited to 1000 entries
5km – 9-10yr olds, limited to 1000 entries
8km – 11-12yr olds, limited to 1000 entries38. What is the cost per entry?
It is on the 12th November 2011, on a Saturday. The venue is at the Waterfall Country Estate.39. Where is the registration and when?
Registration will be at the Waterfall Country Estate on the 12th November 2011.40. Can I ride with my child?
Only one adult may accompany each entrant on the 800m route. The adult must wear the corresponding race number which will be issued at ‘registration’ on the day.41. Is the route safe?
Yes, but please take note that some of the roads are cobble stone.
