  • Where does the ride take place, start and finish?

  • When is Race Number Collection?
  • The venue for Race Number Collection is TBC, however - the dates and times are as follows:
    Thursday, 7 November 2013 10h00 – 17h00
    Friday, 8 November 2013 10h00 – 17h00

  • How much is the entrance fee?
  • The entry fee is R 120.00 per child. Includes a t-shirt, goodie bag, and medal at the finish.

  • When do entries open?
  • Kiddies Ride entries open on Monday, 3 June 2013.

  • When is the kiddies ride?
  • Saturday, 09 November 2013.

  • What are the different categories?
  • Cheetahs = 1km lap = push bikes and tricycles, moms or dads can join. (age appropriate: 2-4yrs)

    Leopards =1km lap = trikes, push bikes and training wheels allowed, no parents (age appropriate: 5-6yrs)

    Lions = 2x 1km laps = bicycles only - can use training wheels. (age appropriate: 7-8yrs)

    Tigers = up to 5x 1km laps = Bicycles only no training wheels (age appropriate: 9-10yrs)

    Please understand that these are guidelines for the parents, and if a parent feels that their child can do a particular route, then the parent may enter the child into the route that best suits the child.

  • What if my child does not have an ID number?
  • All ID numbers are found on the child’s birth certificate. The ID number is very important in making sure that the child can be identified accurately in case there is an emergency and we need to identify the child.

  • Should I enter my details in order to enter my child, or should I use my child’s details?
  • No, the details at are entered into the system are the child’s details. Please do not enter into the ride as a parent.

  • Can my child race with a younger child?
  • Yes, if you feel that the older child is not fit enough, and would rather them ride with the younger child.

  • What kind of bicycle may my child ride?
  • Helmets are compulsory.

    Cycling gear may be purchased at leading cycling shops, otherwise anything is green light for the day.

  • How will my child be timed?
  • The kiddies ride is a non competitive ride. Therefore, no official times will be taken and no race positions for the categories will be presented.

  • What if my child decides during the ride that they cannot continue?
  • The route is a lap of 1km, if your child decides that he/she cannot complete the ride they can come off the course after each lap.

  • Where can I find photographs taken of me during the kiddies ride?
  • An orange sticker will be placed in your ride pack. Please ensure that you stick it on the front of the helmet and on the handlebars of your bicycle. This ensures easy identification of your photographs that will be taken throughout the ride.

  • How many water points are there on the route?
  • There is one water point along the course.

  • Is the route completely closed off to motorists?
  • Yes, the route is completely closed off from motorists.

  • Is there ample safe parking at the venue?
  • Yes, there will be an allocated area for parking at the venue.

    Please be sure to check out the parking at the Polo Fields, on the corner of the R 55 and Maxwell Drive.

  • What time should I get there to ensure that my child does not miss their START?
  • You will need to allow yourself at least an hour and a half to get to the START point.

  • Is there a certain way that my child should dress for the ride?
  • No, as long as they have a helmet on, and protective clothing.

    NO HELMET, NO RIDE!

  • What does my child get for finishing the ride?
  • On completion of the ride, the child will receive a medal.
