Entries have opened for the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge.
No, you do not have to qualify to take part, but we do suggest that you take partake in other races throughout the year. This will ensure that you are fit for Cycle Challenge Sunday and other events could better your start time for the Cycle Challenge.
Twelve years old. If anyone younger would like to enter, we require a letter of consent from the parent or guardian.

Yes, this can be done.
Each person will have to enter individually. Everyone is seeded according to their own individual index. Once the race numbers have been sent out, the person with the better start time will need to drop down to the person with the lowest start time.
You MAY NEVER start in an earlier/ higher group.
Once you have completed 10 Cycle Challenges, you will receive a yellow race number. For those doing their 17th Cycle Challenge, they will be riding with a red number. Please note that the special number may be collected at a counter at Race Number Collection, when collecting your original race number.
At the K60 (through Sunninghill or for vehicles using the Allandale Rd access, there is parking in the Waterfall Estate at no cost. While all effort is taken to secure cars with private security, parking remains at your own risk.
Yes, you need a license to race. If you are an unlicensed rider then you will have to purchase a one day CSA event license. You may purchase the temporary license at Race Number Collection when collecting your race number. A day license costs R35 incl VAT and can be purchased online.
The Cycle Challenge is owned by Primedia Broadcasting (94.7 Highveld Stereo) and is sponsored by Momentum.

No, there is not.
The Cycle Challenge starts on the R55 before Maxwell Drive in Sunninghill from 05h30 and finishes at the Waterfall Country Estate.
You can ask a friend to collect it on your behalf. CSA licensed riders, please give your license card to the person collecting your pack.
Yes, you can enter the Cycle Challenge online.
Any traditional bicycle or tandem bicycle, that is not motorised.
Recumbent bicycles are also allowed in certain categories.
You are seeded according to your seeding index (strength). The seeding index is a calculation of your best finishing time in any one or more of the Cycle Challenge seeding events relative to the winner’s time.
You will need to purchase a RaceTec timing chip, if you don’t already have one.
You may purchase the timing chip in the entry system, but if you would like to use it for other events, preceding the Cycle Challenge, you may arrange with RaceTec to have the timing chip ready for you at that particular event.

NO CHIP = NO OFFICIAL RESULT = NO OFFICIAL CERTIFICATE = NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT YOU HAVE DONE THE RACE.
There are sweep vehicles on the route. Move off of the course and wait for the sweep vehicle, or flag down an official vehicle to call for the sweep vehicles. At all water points there are dedicated sweep pick up areas as well. The sweep vehicles will drop you and your bike at the finish venue.
There is an orange sticker that you will find in your race pack. Please ensure that you stick the sticker on the front of the helmet and on the handlebars of your bicycle. This is for easy identification for your photographs that will be taken throughout the race.
The photographs will be digitally downloadable on the ActionPhoto website, a week after the event. ActionPhoto can be found at www.actionphoto.co.za
One may either pre-order the photographs or purchase the photographs on the ActionPhoto website after the event.
You have 6 hours to complete the event, within your group’s start time. There are enforced cut off points at each water point. Check the website or your Race brochure for the cut off times or contact the Race Office.
There are ten Momentum Water Points on route and one at the Finish.

The entire route of the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge is closed to traffic. In the interests of safety no unofficial vehicles will be permitted on to the route.

The Netcare 911 paramedic that attends to you will radio the JOC (Joint Operations Centre), who will send a marshal to collect your bicycle. The bicycle will be put on a sweep vehicle and taken to the finish and be given to the person in charge of the bicycle park. It is very important that you have your race number sticker (found in your race pack) on your bicycle, so that the bicycle can be easily identified.

Yes, there is a shuttle service. It will transport spectators from the parking area to the Venue, at no extra charge. Buses are provided by Gautrain.
Yes, there is a Bike Park located at the hospitality area in the finish venue.
You will need to allow yourself at least an hour and a half before your start time in order to get to the START point.
You will need time to find parking, prepare your bicycle and ride to the start. There is a mechanical station at the start, for last minute touch ups. We do suggest that you have your bike fully serviced prior to the race, to ensure it is in full working order.
Wearing of a helmet is COMPULSORY.
Cycling gear may be purchased at leading cycling shops.
If you wish to dress up, you may do so. Please take your own and other riders’ safety into account when dressing up.
On completion of the event, you will receive a medal, a certificate (will be emailed to you two weeks after the event), photographs (digitally downloadable on www.actionphoto.net – available a week after the event).
The results will be available on the Cycle Challenge website, and on the www.racetec.co.za
